include being homeless, living in a war zone, being an immigrant, moving many
times, witnessing a sibling being abused, witnessing a father or other caregiver or extended family member being abused, involvement with the criminal justice system, attending a school that enforces a zero - tolerance discipline policy, etc..
Tell them it can be accomplished by teaching the cultivation
of the will (becoming mentally strong, being methodically organized, the discipline to work); the development
of the mind (accumulating knowledge and experience, learning to deal successfully with different situations
including adversities); the education
of the heart (work ethics: putting the client's interests and welfare ahead
of your own; dealing fairly with your competitors; sharing generously your
time and experience with others); and teaching perseverance, which is another name for success.
