This year's theme, Setting Standards, showcases the latest range of initiatives that support
inclusive practice initiatives in the aged care sector.
The types of
inclusive practices initiatives may be academic, extracurricular, and / or social in nature such as clubs, sports, and community - based activities.
The VDOE is seeking applicants, Pre-K through high school who would be willing to share
their inclusive practices initiative (s) with others through videos, implementation guidance, distance mentoring, and on - site visits.

These
practices are: 1)
inclusive education is not a separate
initiative from general education, 2) students receiving special education services are general education students first, 3) decisions about student services are based on individual student needs, 4) the district must raise its expectations for students with disabilities and end their social and physical segregation, and 5) the success of every student is the collective responsibility of all district educators.
All
initiatives supported through this office are designed to facilitate
inclusive practices.
