Staff designers frequently cross over, creating a jacket for their own publisher one week, freelancing for another house the next week and taking on
an indie author client the week after that.
I use Track Changes every time I edit for
indie author clients so that they know exactly what I have changed on their manuscripts and so that they can easily revert those changes if they don't agree with them.

It has worked for me for all four of my books (all number one Amazon bestsellers and multi-award winners), it works for my many
clients (from
indie authors to New York Times bestsellers), and it works for the multiple
authors I directed during the eighteen months of the now - defunct Gravity Imprint of Booktrope Publishing.
Every time someone contacts you, make a note (perhaps in a spreadsheet) of which method was used and the
client type (e.g. colleague enquiry via email, student thesis enquiry via contact form,
indie author via text message, etc.).

indie clients to appreciate their book - promoting service: they welcome EPUB and MOBI format of which most of you certain possess; they seem to speak to independent
author directly apart from agent and publisher as they leave one button for you to proudly present who you are.
Through years of innovation and creativity working on
Indie and self - published books on a case by case basis — along with our traditionally published
clients — we've helped these
authors become award - winning, bestselling — or both — and many have gone on to sign with agents, publishers and even sell film rights.
The bottom line, is, it will be very interesting to see how this example develops and I admire their tenacity breaking out like this but this is definitely not something I would recommend for publishing
clients, nor would I recommend this (at all) for
indie authors.
