Finally, outside of the big players there's sure to be a couple of interesting
indie games on show, and these might end up making an appearance at the PC Gaming Show, a conference dedicated to showing off games for the PC gaming market.
After finding my feet yesterday it dawned on me that there is a hell of a lot of
indie games on show!

show off some Crysis
on consoles, Kingdoms of Amalur, Gears of War 3,
indie game Vessel, Bit.Trip Saga
on the DS, and more!
It won't, however, include this spiffy canvas that just
showed up
on my doorstep by
indie artist Christopher Reavey or this letter from
game creator Daisuke Ayama.
The opening hours of Resident Evil 7 are a fantastic white - knuckle creep
show that proved Capcom could stand toe - to - toe (and even one - up) the hip new
indie horror
games on the block.
I've written separate articles for some of the
games I played in the
Indie area, but the rest of the stuff I played was too early
on, unlikely to leave Japan, or just not a great experience to be had
on a noisy
show floor.
One of the small press publishers
showed on a post yesterday how their data, based
on usa today figures that include ebooks, is
showing how «the
indie game is about over» since legacy guys are pricing $ 1 - $ 3 over the holidays and their increasing % of ebook sales.
We have the Vikings tv series
on History (my favorite
show on cable), really cool
indie games like The Banner Saga and Jotun, the Minnesota Vikings are getting a new stadium and, at least, the people of Minnesota will be able to go to the Super Bowl (yes, the Vikings are also my favorite football team... you can see my life starting to suck, can't you) and, of course, all sorts of metal featuring Vikings.
Game Awards Fan Favourite and Popular YouTuber John Bain A.k.a TotalBiscuit has in the final segment of the latest Co-Optional podcast, put out his thoughts
on possibly organising an
indie gaming festival / awards
show hopefully within the next few years.
With new IPs from both companies,
indie support
on the
show floor, and a large number of
games to demo, Nintendo was left behind at E3, while the other companies enjoy nearly uncontested press time.
Having already played most of the bigger titles
on Thursday and Friday, I decided to avoid the busy weekend queues and head to the
indie game section of the
show: the Rezzed Zone.

PlayStation has made sure to put this
indie title
on a platform,
showing off the mere scope of endless exploration that can be done in this
game.
To put it another way, after the impressive
showing of their Nindie Showcase in late February, what better
games could help cut the ceremonial ribbon for a flood of awesome
indie titles
on Switch than one of the earliest successes for WiiWare and a certain other
game that previously couldn't make it onto Nintendo platforms thanks to the company's outdated policies?

We're seeing alot more
indie games show up
on the Nintendo Switch compared to other consoles based
on release.
On the
show floor of BitSummit, there's quite a few Japanese mobile
games made by
indie developers.
And the recent
indie game Owlboy
shows why: the
game made a profit
on the Switch in just 24 hours
on the eShop.
Today's
Indie news: Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment releasing in Spring, European and North American release date for Soul Axiom, some gameplay footage for RIVE, latest Kickstarter update and footage for Sneaky Ninja, interviews for Drinkbox Studios and Axiom Verge, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 update in Japan, two screenshots for Dragon Fang
on New Nintendo 3DS, Back in 1995 64 playable at the Tokyo
Game Show 2016, and special bundle
on sale for Retro City Rampage DX!
Some of them only got a couple of seconds of video during a buzz reel for the
indie games program, but the company hammered
on the fact that 22 of the
games shown were exclusive to the console which is a fancy way of saying «Pay no attention to the PC you already have.»
There will also be the opportunity to meet with some of the best
indie talent developing for Nintendo consoles in a special Indie Zone when the games show opens on Septembe

This week has been an exceptional one for
indie with all of the
indie game announcements for PS4,
showing where
indie may be heading
on next - gen console platforms.

Since then, the Flash
game went
on to pick up an impressive three nominations from the Independent Games Festival (Grand Prize, Visual Art, and Audio), and was shortlisted in a couple other
indie game award
shows, too.
The PSVR has just surpassed 1,000,000 units sold, that's better than expected so I can guarantee there will be lots of new VR
games, not just
indie titles but big full
on AAA
games that will really
show off the PSVR and bring it to the mainstream.
PAX Prime in Seattle is right around the corner and we're celebrating with great discounts
on some of our favorite
indie games that were
shown at previous PAX Prime
shows.
What has always interested is the
indie games, and their certainly have been some gems
on show this year.
We were able to record 10 presentations from participating
indie game developers
on the
show floor during the event — check out our event page to see who took part — and we'll be publishing these presentations in this Channel towards the end of the week.
Although it's a smaller event than its older brother, it still features many of the attractions you love about our events; playable pre-release
games on both PC and console (with a strong focus
on indie titles), developer sessions by well known
game designers and the opportunity to chat with developers
on the
show floor.
By straddling the blockbuster and
indie divide, shifting focus away from mere product onto the process and wider meaning of
games, GameCity shines a light
on an aspect of video
games often missed by so many other specialist
game shows.

Damon Baker revealed that Nintendo has been proactive in going to trade
shows and
indie meetups, to keep an eye out
on promising
games, but also to stay in touch with the latest trends.
TL; DR: For me to buy an
indie game, it needs to have gameplay to my taste and a big personality streaming it
on twitch, or the devs need to be awesome people and
show it... or steam sale.
