The study findings are in support of the hypothesis that loneliness and psychological distress may pose
as parallel mediating mechanisms that
indirectly link exposure to interpersonal violence to recurrent headache in a general population of
adolescents.
In this study, we used school - functioning
as a measure of
adolescent well - being and showed that «family exposure» to the disaster influenced
adolescent school - functioning up to 10 years both directly and
indirectly through a combination of parental mental health and
adolescent behavior and mental health.
