idea to be partially invested in
stocks is this, what about screening «
individual stocks» for candidates that meet a PE / 10 of less than 10 (or whatever one chooses) and building a partial position in those
stocks, maybe only a 30 % position but at least a position?
I would rather teach people how to think about
stocks and other assets, because my
individual ideas will be wrong 30 % of the time, and I will garner a lot of complaints from them.
For what it is worth, the same

stock, except that is bought primarily by

If you're building up the equity side of your portfolio entirely based on
individual stocks instead of funds, it's a good
idea to try to spread your holdings fairly evenly among 30 or more
individual stocks, so you're not unduly impacted if serious misfortune happens to particularly impact one or two
individual holdings (such as what happened to Nortel in the 2000s).
I had no
idea what I was doing, but I still managed to buy seven
individual stocks before I ran out of money.
When a portfolio manager or
individual investor holds say 40 - plus
stocks, probably no more than a dozen are their best

Which left me with the Hang Seng index since I don't touch

While it is not a good
idea for the typical investor to buy
individual stocks, mutual funds and index funds are a great way to buy into the market for instant diversity at a low cost.
Investing is a great
idea which all should take part in, passive may work for some, but the rate of growth plus the
individual stock opportunities out there because of the overall market fall makes other options more viable.
Following is my concrete example which shows the basic
idea behind my
individual stock portfolio — one that I've built with a good amount of thought, care and research.
Once you've determined a thesis and chosen an area to invest, there are two main ways to play that
idea: through
individual stocks or ETFs.

We all love the
idea of lounging in piles of cash dividends, but is it mindful for
individual investors to seek out dividends or prefer dividend
