babesiosis, a once uncommon malaria - like
infection in the United States.
In the United States, some of the most alarming outbreaks are occurring in the suburbs, where rising temperatures may help explain the spike in such tick - borne illnesses as
babesiosis; hga (human granulocytic anaplasmosis), a potentially lethal flulike
infection; and Lyme disease, the most common vector - borne disease in this country.
Some of these other
infections are Rocky Mountain spotted fever, tularemia (rabbit fever), ehrlichiosis,
babesiosis and bartonellosis (cat scratch disease).
