Purpose of Study: If your veterinarian has a suspicion that your pet is suffering from
infectious keratitis (infection of the cornea) or a deep corneal ulcer, they will recommend taking a swab sample from the surface of your pet's cornea in order to see what type of infection your pet has.
There are two distinct types: noninfectious keratitis, which can be caused by a minor injury, and
infectious keratitis, which may be caused by a variety of factors, such as bacteria or parasites.
