These tests are used
in shelter and rescue
settings as well as general and specialty
small animal practices, but they are often used inconsistently between various
groups and the
information provided by the tests is frequently misunderstood and potentially further complicated by confirmatory testing.
The definitions that were promulgated
in the Transactions Rule and that remain unchanged here are: Act, ANSI, covered entity, compliance date,
group health plan, HCFA, HHS, health care provider, health
information, health insurance issuer, health maintenance organization, modify or modification, Secretary,
small health plan, standard
setting organization, and trading partner agreement.
The value
in doing this work
in a
small group setting is twofold; (1) it offers the opportunity to practice all learned skills
in an intimate
setting rather than passively taking
in information that you may not ever apply and, (2) it provides the experience of empathy and connection - key ingredients to shame - resilience and courage.
