instant acceleration successfully foiled a major road mishap.
Because 99 % of the
time I will be within these RPM ranges, the engine will be producing more horsepower without a lot of noise or fuss, with better engine longevity - the engine will be producing more power at a lower RPM hence less engine wear, and finally there is more
instant acceleration when I need to accelerate without having to change down a gear every
time, which I would have to do in the peaky engine.
Most of the
time you don't get the advantage of the
instant torque from the electric motor, instead, before there's any
acceleration, the gearbox needs to kick down to the correct gear as the electronics decide just how much of each power source it wants to use.
Electric motors generate
instant and full torque from standstill, leading to stunning response and
acceleration times.
Electric cars have long been better than gasoline - powered cars in many ways — they're a few
times more efficient; they offer
instant torque (excellent initial
acceleration that's a lot of fun and very useful); they're much more convenient (plug in when you get home and never have to go to the gas station!)
