After all, the Age of
Ultron comic book storyline dealt with time travel, Hank Pym's failures and Wolverine hunting

intelligence, Stark seemingly wins out when it comes to technological advancement, especially considering what we've seen from J.A.R.V.I.S.,
Ultron, Vision, and of course Karen (the one in the Spider - Man suit).
His solution is
Ultron, self - aware, self - teaching, artificial
intelligence designed to help assess threats, and direct Stark's Iron Legion of drones to battle evildoers instead.
It shows Aaron Taylor - Johnson's Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch encountering
Ultron in what may be an early scene, and also features Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark / Iron Man lamenting his role in the nefarious machine
intelligence's creation.
Ultimately,
Ultron «absorbs» Stark's Jarvis (voice of Paul Bettany, «Transcendence») artificial
intelligence software and begins to take on an evil life of his own.
Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is particularly well serviced, no doubt to make up for sidelining in the first film, joined by returning favourites from the Marvel universe, new threats in the form of uniquely talented twins Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor - Johnson), and the first of the artificial
intelligence creations designed by Tony Stark to overcome what the Avengers can not,
Ultron (voiced by James Spader).
The humans on the team include Hank Pym, the scientist / superhero who created
Ultron, and Monica Chang, who comes over from Ultimate Comics: Ultimates as an artificial
intelligence specialist from S.H.I.E.L.D.
Voiced and mocapped by the incredibly talented James Spader
Ultron isn't your typical emotionless artificial
intelligence, rather he's almost at times a petulant teenager.
Ultimately Age of
Ultron does feel a bit sloppy and even hollow, as Whedon touches so very briefly on things like the dangers of artificial
intelligence, what it means to be a superhero and even whether the Avengers are truly a force for good, and then doesn't come back to them because he has a checklist of things to hit.
Two of this summer's biggest movies so far are «The Age of
Ultron», where the villain is a runaway artificial
intelligence, and the Mad Max sequel, «Fury Road», set in a climate altered future.
