The children in the first group — born to women who had morning sickness — tested with
higher intelligence scores than those in the second group.
Performance on all 4 tests were combined to obtain a
global intelligence score, which was regarded as a measure of general cognitive ability (50).
Results demonstrated that male subjects with improved predicted cardiovascular fitness between 15 and 18 y of age exhibited significantly
greater intelligence scores than subjects with decreased cardiovascular fitness.
Significant prediction was also achieved with a machine learning approach, i.e., support vector regression with nested cross-validation applied to the whole sample (correlation between predicted and
actual intelligence scores: r =.28).
In conclusion, our study demonstrates that the multivariate pattern of individual differences in gray matter density is predictive of
individual intelligence scores, even in previously unseen individuals.
Intelligence scores increased an average 3.8 points in children exercising 40 minutes a day for 3 months after school with a lesser benefit in children who exercised 20 minutes a day.
Posthuma and her team looked for links
between intelligence scores, measured in different ways in the studies, and variations held in the genetic instruction books of 78,308 children and adults.
The cognitive data consisted of the Biobank's
fluid intelligence scores, which were acquired in N = 185,317 people (aged 39 — 73 years) across up to three testing occasions 2 — 4 years apart (though note that the majority of individuals only completed one (174,728) or two (9,719) assessments).
A 2017 study in Germany has shown academic tracking school students with «considerably higher
intelligence score gains» than their non-tracking and comprehensive school compatriots.
Thus, medication does help and improve the achievement scores and grades of ADHD children (as medicated ADHD children scored higher than non-medicated ADHD children), which likely does improve
general intelligence scores.
Intelligence scores from the Mullen (prorated) and Leiter - R (full) measures were transformed to z - scores based on the normative data given for each IQ test before they were combined in a data set.
Those with increased fitness between 15 and 18 y of age exhibited significantly higher
global intelligence scores than those with decreased fitness (Fig. 3B).
For example, Dr. Joseph Renzulli broke from the traditional approach of defining gifted merely based on
high intelligence scores and defined it as the intersection of task commitment, creativity, and above - average ability.
Deaf participants with
lower intelligence scores were consistently rated worse on an adaptive behavior measure of daily functioning by their parents.
Preterm infants who are fed breast milk grow up with higher
intelligence scores, and other neurological development parameters are better as well.
One such study of more than 17,000 babies studied from birth to 6.5 years found that those nourished by breast had higher
intelligence scores than those fed by formula.
These may include portfolios of student work, classroom observations, achievement measures, and
intelligence scores.
Consuming fish more than once per week correlated with
intelligence scores that were 12 percent higher than those of infrequent fish eaters.
An independent, large - scale study in Sweden found that teenage males who eat fish weekly have
intelligence scores 7 percent higher than do those who eat fish less often.
Using linear regression, we demonstrate that the multivariate pattern of gray matter density within these brain regions significantly predicts individual
intelligence scores in the remaining, i.e., independent sample used for model testing (N = 108; correlation between predicted and actual intelligence scores: r =.36).
Furthermore, similar to a recent study of school children (39), the present study demonstrates that positive associations with
intelligence scores were restricted to cardiovascular fitness and not muscular strength (see Fig. 2B).
Associations between cardiovascular fitness and global
intelligence scores, as well as logical, verbal, visuospatial, and technical scores, were determined (see Fig. 2 A and C — F and Table 1).
Associations between cardiovascular fitness and
intelligence scores as well as muscular strength and intelligence scores at age 18 y
In this analysis, we tried to evaluate whether young male subjects whose cardiovascular fitness had improved between age 15 y and age 18 y had significantly higher
intelligence scores than those whose cardiovascular fitness declined (Fig. 3A).
The Afghan hound does have the honor of gaining last place in
the intelligence scores.
Basenji are originally jungle dogs so they more energy than some of the slacker dogs but because of its low
intelligence scores can adapt quite nicely to a soft couch and a late wake up call.
If you're in an unhealthy relationship, over time your children will develop insecurities, parental dependence and lower
intelligence scores.
