It's
interesting to see how this
area of Formula 1
gameplay has evolved since the first title in the Codemasters series
Mid-battle cutscenes also flow better than before, such as cameras focusing on
areas of
interest mid-battle, and meetings with certain generals happening in a more realistic way; while in the old games you would sometimes see your character interacting with a general on the other side of the map during a cutscene, this doesn't tend to happen now, some scenes flowing back into
gameplay with your character standing in front of the officer they were speaking to, rather than suddenly finding yourself back on the other side of the map as though nothing had happened.
Gameplay revolves around exploring London, chatting with the colourful local residents and business people you encounter, investigating
areas of
interest to find clues, hint coins and other items, and of course tackling the numerous puzzles that will pop up along the way.
(I also absolutely loved how the game rewarded being able to time a roll grenade throw or similar) I'm open to new ideas though and I think this more team focused
gameplay is an
interesting area to explore.
While there are some
interesting gameplay mechanics and lots of variety, these are accompanied by several
gameplay issues and lack in polish in several
areas.
It's not that minigames or aimless wandering are necessarily fun (because they can often be quite the opposite), but that even games focused almost entirely on combat break up the action have lulls to let the player breathe and alternate
gameplay modes and
areas to keep things
interesting.
