Although these artists / photographers were not «winners» of Viridian's 2nd International Juried Photo Competition juried by Jennifer Blessing from the Guggenheim Museum, Vernita Nemec, Viridian's gallery director, felt the images of these twelve photographers to be as uniquely interesting as some of those chosen by the Guggenheim Curator.

On November 22, 2014, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Director Alex Nyerges was honored by the French government as Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres), a prestigious international association of leaders recognized for their contributions toward promoting international relations with France.
The international jury was made up of the Italian critic Giulio Carlo Argan, Dr Kurt Martin and Professor A. Hammacher, Director of the Kröller - Müller Museum, Amsterdam.
He has worked in cultural institutions including the National Museum of Fine Arts / MNBA — Rio de Janeiro (Director, 2003 - 2006), MoMA in New York (Associate curator, 1999 - 2002), 24th International Biennial of Arts of São Paulo (Antropofagia, General curator, 1998), Museum of Modern Art — MAM — Rio de Janeiro (Chief curator, 1985 - 1990), and Institute of Fine Arts — INAP / FUNARTE (National Director,1983 - 1985).
Each exhibition will be organized by curators with specific expertise in the area of focus, with WhiteBox artistic Director Juan Puntes curating the China - focus exhibition, independent curator Kyoko Sato for Japan, WhiteBox Curatorial Advisors Blanca de la Torre and Raúl Zamudio for Mexico and Latin America, and the former Yugoslavia portion curated by WhiteBox Director of International Programming Lara Pan, in collaboration with museum curators from across the region.
He served as Chairman of Board of Directors of Seoul Arts Center, Chairman of Korean Business Council for the Arts, Chairman of Membership Society of National Museum of Contemporary Art, and International Council Member of Tate Gallery London.
The 2016 jury consisted of Katherine Brinson; Dan Byers, Mannion Family Senior Curator, Institute of Contemporary Art / Boston; Elena Filipovic, Director and Chief Curator, Kunsthalle Basel; Michelle Kuo, Editor in Chief, Artforum International; and Pablo León de la Barra, Guggenheim UBS Map Curator, Latin America, Solomon R.
