I'm not sure what
exactly you're saying regarding the waffle, but, yes, all of
scripture is in fact «cultural» — it is placed first and foremost within the cultural context of the readers (the original, intended recipients) and any proper understanding of it and interpretation of it in our culture today must first understand how it would have been received and
interpreted by those it was written to.
Being arrogant enough to believe there's only one «correct» way of thinking is
exactly why religion will increasingly struggle, as more people become educated throughout the country and find other paths instead of
interpreting scripture literally, regardless of how factually / scientifically inaccurate it is.
