evangelist agrees with popular Christianity that the believer will enter
into eternal life at the general resurrection, but for him this is a truth
of less importance than the fact that the believer already enjoys eternal life and the former is a consequence
of the latter.»
When one takes all this
into consideration, it must seem surprising that we still know as much as we do about the chronology
of the life
of Jesus, and especially that we can fix inside relatively narrow limits the time within which all that the
Evangelists tell
of Jesus» ministry took place.

of the risen Jesus is normally neither visible nor tangible, it «temporarily reassumes the human outline, and solid frame, and former appearance, and marks

of both discourses.
The miracles recorded in the gospel follow the same general pattern as in the synoptic gospels, although the tendency
of the
evangelist to use them as a peg for a controversy or discourse introduces a further artificial element
into his gospel.
