From a policy standpoint, the adoption of SEL standards, funding for teacher professional development, and the incorporation of school climate
into measures of accountability are all potential levers (among many) to support empowerment efforts.

The package would require public disclosure
of every legislator's outside clients and income, establish an ethics commission with robust investigative powers over both the legislative and executive branches — and institute other
measures to introduce badly needed transparency and
accountability into our state government.

Proponents

measures suggest that as parents are «the most powerful force on earth» [v], they must be incorporated

As Richard Whitmire and I proposed earlier this year, simply requiring gender to be

of subgroup
accountability would do plenty to force states and districts
into dealing seriously with this problem.
States will need to build new

This highly publicized protest
of standardized tests has highlighted how their purpose has been twisted to fit
into the
accountability regime, despite the fact that they are designed to
measure student learning, not teacher instruction.
Michael Kirst, president
of the State Board
of Education, which will create the template for the LCAP that districts will use, says that the API «will morph
into a broader set
of measures» that local districts will use to set goals under their Local Control and

While it could be argued it is based around a curriculum (including its range
