into teacher education experiences provided to preservice social studies teachers.

Through multiple changes to the state code, New Jersey has raised the GPA entrance and exit requirements for potential
teachers, raised the entrance exam requirements for
teacher education so that only the top third of test takers can become
education majors without passing additional examinations, has added the Pearson administered edTPA performance assessment on top of the PRAXIS II examination as an exit requirement, and has expanded student teaching
into a full year
experience.
The challenges with regard to locating field placements that provide opportunities for rich technology integration

Practice What You Teach follows three different groups of educators to explore the challenges of developing and supporting
teachers» sense of social justice and activism at various stages of their careers: White pre-service
teachers typically enrolled in most
teacher education programs, a group of new
teachers attempting to integrate social justice

experienced educators who see their teaching and activism as inextricably linked.
