But I have to admit, it's definitely proved to be the most memorable & useful piece
of investing wisdom I've ever passed on to friends, family & fellow investors.
But like many other supposed nuggets
of investing wisdom, this one doesn't stand up to close scrutiny.

investing wisdom indicates that with a long time horizon, equities render a higher return than other asset classes such as bonds.
They cut so against the
typical investing wisdom (which is generally based on an incomplete understanding of how safe withdrawal rates work) that most people have a very difficult time believing it can possibly be true.

Typically, the person is asking the question because they've latched on to a sound bite - style piece
of investing wisdom (e.g., stock picking is bad, market timing is bad, passive investing is better than active investing, your bond allocation should be equal to your age, etc.) and they're trying to figure out how to apply it.
In Alan Greenspan's «The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World», he mentioned the «Reminiscences of a Stock Operator» as a «font of
investing wisdom».
Warren Buffett has shared
his investing wisdom for decades.

But you don't have to truck out to Nebraska or own Berkshire shares (though maybe you should) to tap into Buffett's
investing wisdom.
