The chain of commands was relatively simple, taking the output from Windows
ipconfig command, piping that to the grep tool in openSuse to select lines with the string «IP» in them and then sending these to the lolcat command in Ubuntu to change the color of the text, as seen below.
NOTE: You can
use IPCONFIG / ALL command in the Command Window to view the DNS.
Many common Command Prompt commands —
from ipconfig to cd — work in the PowerShell environment.
If you only rarely fire up the Command Prompt to run the occasional ping or
ipconfig command, you really don't need to touch PowerShell.
Then
type ipconfig / all into the command prompt and press Enter.
If you have
used ipconfig or ping through the command prompt, you're halfway to becoming a PowerShell ninja.
For example, you'll see the network connection details but not the «
ipconfig / all» line.
With the command prompt open, type «
ipconfig / flushdns» (the command is the same for both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1).
To determine your router's new IP address, open up a command prompt and type
ipconfig — release.
After about a minute, open up a command prompt and type
ipconfig — release to determine your router's new IP address.
If you need to find your computer's IP address, you can use
the ipconfig command in a Command Prompt window.
Figure out the local IP address of your PC (easiest way is to open up the command prompt and type «
ipconfig»)
If you can not get into the router page using that IP, open command prompt window and type
ipconfig / all.
In the browser type 192.168.x.1, replacing the X with the number you found in
the ipconfig search.
Or, to figure out which one, on the PC connected to the router, open a command prompt and type «
ipconfig» without the quotes.
After that, type
ipconfig / all and hit the Enter button.
You will get the Command window where you can type
IPCONFIG / ALL to view your current DNS.
If you prefer using the Command Prompt, you can find the default gateway for any connection quickly by using
the ipconfig command.
At the Command Prompt, type the command
ipconfig and press Enter.
On Windows, run
the ipconfig / all command in a Command Prompt window.
You could also run run
the ipconfig / all command in a Command Prompt window.
Type «
ipconfig» without the quotes in the command prompt window and press Enter.
