This list was then filtered to remove non-confirmed planets and highly -
irradiated planets that may have lost mass.
The bigger the star, the farther away the habitable zone (you don't want
an irradiated planet that's sitting too close to a red dwarf star, after all).

Such stars are usually prone to deadly eruptions of ultraviolet radiation and X-rays, so nearby
planets are likely to be severely
irradiated, casting doubt on whether life could survive there.
With UCSC graduate student Jonathan Langton, he is studying the surface flows on strongly
irradiated extrasolar
planets, and is comparing the results of these simulations to observations made with the Spitzer Space Telescope.
This
planet is one of the most inflated of all known transiting exoplanets, making it one of the few members of a class of extremely low density, highly -
irradiated gas giants.
This is mildly inflated as compared to models of
irradiated giant
planets at the $ \ sim $ 4 Gyr age of the system.
These observations represent the first constraints on the atmospheric dynamics of a highly
irradiated brown dwarf, and the atmospheres of
irradiated giant
planets at high surface gravity.
Most of these
planets are highly
irradiated, but EPIC 206209135.04 (K2 - 72e, Rp = 1.29 -LRB--0.13 / +0.14) Earth radii), EPIC 211988320.01 (Rp = 2.86 -LRB--0.15 / +0.16) Earth radii), and EPIC 212690867.01 (Rp = 2.20 -LRB--0.18 / +0.19) Earth radii) orbit within optimistic habitable zone boundaries set by the «recent Venus» inner limit and the «early Mars» outer limit.
These projects complement our studies of transiting
planet atmospheres, which all represent heavily
irradiated atmospheres.
Of course, it all depends on the numbers, but if there were an exo - earth with a strong enough magnetosphere to maintain its oceans and atmosphere, and it were subject to periodic flares that
irradiated the surface, then I would not rule out a biosphere on that hypothetical
planet.
Owing to its extremely small size, similar to that of Earth's Moon, and highly
irradiated surface, Kepler - 37b is probably a rocky
planet with no atmosphere or water, similar to Mercury.
This research also found that moderately
irradiated giant
planets are not inflated.
They may not alone
irradiate the use of fossils entirely, but wind farms will reduce the amount of fossil fuels that is needed, and therefore help to protect the
planet from pollution.
