Unfortunately, some
mothers have ongoing health
issues that make
breastfeeding unsafe or not possible.
They are typically recommended for
mothers and babies with medical problems such as premature baby or baby is not able to
breastfeed well and build and maintain a good supply, or mom is struggling with chronic
breastfeeding issues, perhaps her supply is low or the personal use pumps cause her pain.
Most American
mothers wean their babies well before a year; Some women wean out of necessity, due to inability to
breastfeed or technical
issues related to nursing; Some children wean themselves, which causes some
mothers elation and others, absolute sorrow.
I'd devoured at least two - dozen pregnancy and childbirth - related books during my last two trimesters, and then lived inside my Nursing
Mother's Companion as we worked through some early
breastfeeding issues.
I never really noticed the age difference (although I am sure it was considerable at the time) but felt a kinship with fellow
breastfeeding mothers, who were discussing the very same
issues I was dealing with.

Mothers and Babies Do What's Natural
Breastfeeding Today has been busy over the summer adding lots of features and stories and here is a whole new batch of posts for you to read and share.

After a baby has reached the 6 week mark and has well established a
breastfeeding routine, introducing pacifiers and bottles is less likely to cause
issues with his latch or

Another
issue some
mothers run into during the
breastfeeding process is nipple damage.
I struggled a lot with feeding my girl (she had no sucking reflex due to growth
issues in utero) and ended up
breastfeeding her but to be frank would have done anything - like any
mother would - to get her fed and growing.
Although it might be inferred that confidence in addressing the needs of
breastfeeding mothers translates into better clinical management of
breastfeeding issues, the number of residents in this study was too small to correlate the performance of individual residents in the clinical setting with their reported confidence level.
This represented a stark change from the colonial era, when

Peer support can fulfill this role, and can become a lifeline for
mothers with

mother does have a low milk supply, it's more likely due to a poor latch or not
breastfeeding enough than a true low milk supply
