Since I don't yet see the appeal
of digital magazines and newspapers (until they get some pricing and delivery
issues worked out first), and I'm not the target
market for children's
books, I look at the Nook Color mainly as an e-reader.
Considering green
issues, e-books are going to be a growing part
of the total
book market and we might as well be jumping on the bandwagon.
Those who opt to self - publish in the e-
book format have several platforms to choose from specifically designed for illustrated
books, but this doesn't solve a much bigger
issue for children's
book writers

market.
Considering you have written a
book that is worth reading (which is an entire separate blogpost) and that you have followed the overwhelming
marketing advice to create an award - winning
book cover,
issue a press release, utilize every social media platform known to man, create your own website that is optimized for an infinite list
of search engines, blog, guest blog, complete a
book tour, and run free or discounted
book promotions then you may feel you have run the gambit
of options available to self - published authors.
Also,
of course, no one is being forced or required to buy a
book (exception: academic
market, which is its own animal, so let's not get into it here), so again the
issue of «harm» is not a great one to apply here.
Adult Library
Marketing Committee: The committee considers ideas and
issues that pertain to the sale
of books to all types
of libraries.
