The poll found that the
approval ratings are split
among racial and residential lines, with 69 percent of white voters approving of the
job the mayor's doing, while only 52 percent of black voters and 56 percent of Hispanic voters responded positively.
His
job approval rating has also risen to 54 percent and he is gaining
among Democrats and Republicans as well as in the New York City suburbs and upstate.
Among Democrats, his
job -
approval rating is 73 %.
That is likely to depend on President Barack Obama's
job approval rating and the appeal (or lack thereof) of the GOP presidential nominee,
among other reasons.
Overall, Cuomo enjoys a strong
approval rating among voters in New York — 60 % approve of his
job performance, compared to 38 % who disapprove.
