Mr. Amidu, a former Attorney General, has stated that the GHc 51 million
judgment debt paid businessman and NDC financier, Alfred Woyome, can only be recouped if there is a change of government.
Embattled businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome has declared that former Attorney General, Martin Amidu has no right to ask him to explain how he spent the GHc51 million
judgment debt paid him by the state.
The Supreme Court in 2014 ordered Mr. Woyome to pay back cents 51 million fraudulently taken from the state, after Mr. Martin Amidu, a former Attorney General challenged the legality of
the judgment debt paid the businessman, Waterville, and Isofoton.
Some of the allegations covers, the infamous
judgment debt paid to businessman Alfred Woyome, the National Service Scheme (NSS) scandal sanctioned by the president himself, the Ameri Plant transaction, Subah Infosolution Contract with Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the expansion of the Ridge Hospital, and the sale of Merchant Bank.
The document also mentioned
another judgment debt paid to the Construction Pioneers (CP) of 94 million Euros in 2010, GH275.92 Million judgment debt to 41 individuals, 15 business entities and many others, which the NPP describes «fraudulent».
Martin Amidu's application praying the court to allow him to cross examine Woyome over the refund of the 51 Million Cedi
judgment debt paid him follows a move by the Attorney General's (AG) office, led by the Minister for Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah - Oppong, to discontinue an oral examination of Mr. Woyome, despite serving an earlier notice.
Businessman Alfred Woyome has been found not guilty of causing financial loss to the state in the controversial GHC51 million
judgment debt paid to him by the state.

Businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome has filed a fresh case at the African Court on Human and People's Rights after expressing dissatisfaction about the ruling of the International Chamber of Commerce on the GHc 51 million
judgment debt paid wrongfully to him by the government of Ghana.
Martin Amidu has been a thorn in the flesh of the NDC since dragging businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome to court to demand a refund of the GHC51.2 million
judgment debt paid him.
Touching on the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Agency (GYEEDA),
judgment debts paid to businessman Alfred Woyome among other cases ongoing at the courts, he said over 20 million cedis has been recovered.

Justice Anin Yeboah, who gave the ruling argued that the applicant had the right to do that because he personally came to court to get a

Alfred Agbesi Woyome was
paid GH cents 51 million in a
judgment debt after claiming he helped Ghana raise funds to construct stadia to host the 2008 African Cup of Nations; but the government canceled the contract, forcing him to secure a judgement in his favour.
The Minority Spokesperson on Legal and Constitutional Affairs in Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, has chastised the Attorney General's Department, saying it is not doing enough to retrieve
judgment debts wrongfully
paid to businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
In February 2017 however, Mr. Amidu withdrew his suit seeking an oral examination, explaining that the change of government under the New Patriotic Party under His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo and his Attorney General, Miss Gloria Akuffo's assurance to retrieve all
judgment debts wrongfully
paid to individuals Mr. Woyome in response prayed the Supreme Court to stay proceedings on the oral examination since he had filed for a review on the case.
Martin Amidu, was scheduled to interrogate Woyome over how he intends to
pay back the GHc 51 million
judgment debt unlawfully
paid him by the state.
Indications from the AG's office were that, the examination would encompass issues pertaining to whether he owed any
debts, whether he has property to satisfy the
debt, and the manner in which he used the
judgment debt money
paid him, among others.
Businessman, Alfred Woyome, has described as erroneous the decision of the Attorney General to drag him before the Supreme Court to orally examine him on the GHc 51 million
paid to him as a
judgment debt.
Woyome proceeded to the African Court on Human and Peoples» Rights in November 2017 when government began a valuation of his properties in an attempt to retrieve GHC51 million wrongfully
paid to him in a
judgment debt.
In February 2017 however, Mr. Amidu withdrew his suit seeking an oral examination, explaining that the change of government and the assurance by the new Attorney General to retrieve all
judgment debts wrongfully
paid to individuals, had given him renewed confidence in the system.
Ghana's Supreme Court has rejected the order by the African Court of Human and People's Rights in Tanzania, asking it to halt proceedings leading to the retrieval of the Ghc51 million
judgment debt wrongfully
paid to businessman Alfred Woyome.
