just because... The last time I checked, the statistics
about birth were staggeringly in favor of
homebirths.

just today what I think is their first policy statement specific to
homebirth, and as one would anticipate, they concur «with the recent statement of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists affirming that hospitals and birthing centers are the safest settings for birth in the United States while respecting the right of women to make a medically informed decision
about delivery» (2013, 1016, abstract).
Just about every practice central to
homebirth midwifery has never been tested or has been tested and shown to be dangerous.
I believe that many women who choose
homebirth are smart, educated and perhaps
just not sufficiently skeptical
about «woo».
Homebirth midwives will do
just about anything to avoid acknowledging risks.

If you were not told
about the risks and were instead drawn into long discussions
about homebirth that left you feeling educated, fulfilled and so special but were not sent to tests and ultrasounds to make sure you were truly low - risk, then yes, the midwife was
just stroking your ego, no matter whether you realized it or not.

about the worse outcomes as they speculate that it is either due to the high risks births that were included, or because they must have been farther away from the hospital than
