Watch the list grow as you learn to include all of your
skills, not
just technical or
job -
related ones.
If you are inexperienced, or
just starting out in the field: Go with a
skills - based format, where you lead right into a
skills summary that
relates directly to the
job you're applying for.
Education, certifications and
skills If you hold certifications, degrees or awards that
relate to your
job, noting them in your resume will communicate to employer
just how qualified you are for the
job.
But almost every
job, even the ones you had when you were
just starting out, can be told from a perspective of transferable
skills that do
relate to the new
job.
The summary or profile in your resume should be
just one paragraph in length (but short enough to read in a quick glance) and mention your position, some
skills and achievements
related to the key requirements of the
job you are seeking, and perhaps an educational qualification if that too is key.
With an untargeted resume, at best, you'll be
just another applicant who has the same basic industry -
related skills, experience and education as many other candidates who have applied to the
job.
And this image is not
just about your
job -
related skills and qualifications.
Don't
just copy and paste this sample but modify it as per
job title and requirements and
relate your
skills to the
job.
Just make sure that they
relate directly back to the
skills or qualifications outlined in the
job posting.
