The cherries really perk this up but
omit them if you
just want the pure taste of butter, brown
sugar in a chewy oatmeal bar.
The cookies themselves are a no - spread
sugar cookie infused with tea, they are good on their own or if you want to keep it simple,
omit the tea, skip the fondant and
just give the cookies a quick lemon glaze.

However, my husband gave me permission to
omit the strawberries because he thought they were «unneccessary» and he
just wanted chocolate (needless to say, you can tell we're still fighting the
sugar cravings).
Or for a sweet, dessert preparation,
just omit the shallots and cashews, sweeten up the coconut milk with a bit of palm or brown
sugar, and top with mango.
for the frosting I only used 2 cups of powdered
sugar and
just omitted the milk.
If you
just don't like rum, I think you could
just totally
omit it — the brown
sugar and butter sauce will still taste fabulous!!

Besides
just making a
sugar - free sangria recipe, we decided to make it available to everyone by
omitting the alcohol.
AND you can
omit the glaze if you don't wish to have the added sweetness and
just sprinkle a cinnamon /
sugar mixture over top of the wet dough prior to baking.

And if you want your cake to be aesthetically pleasing (pineapple upside - down cakes are inherently ugly, you know),
omit the oil +

sugar, instead.
* You may substitute a tablespoon of your choice sweetener for stevia or

just use it because it has no added
