we just painted our powder room a medium - dark - ish gray, + it needs a plate wall.

I had floor to ceiling
paintings in my little
powder room but
just moved them into another room.
Custom - blended acrylic

painted in a dome
just above the socket, then winged out and down, and set with translucent
powder.

I
just painted a bunch of empty frames sunny yellow and hung them in my
powder room.
Our vision for the hall for now is
just fresh
paint, the white planking as a next step, and then a bigger project such as eventually removing the cabinets to allow more space in the entry (if the slate floors go under the built - ins) or upgrading them to better quality built ins or bookcases, or possibly even altering this whole area in order to fit in a new hall
powder room and opening up the basement staircase:).
The
powder all over, the mixing, the bits that
just won't mix, the bumpy
paint, the completely unpredictable way it sticks to some areas and not others (even after using milk
paint primer), the way its flaked up in random pieces larger than can be considered attractive «patina,» even after waxing, its short shelf life... The experience (disclaimer — I did not use the Miss Mustard Seed brand) really drove home how lucky I was that acrylics were invented!
We
just happened to have that
paint as a sample that was rejected for the rest of the house so we used it for the
powder room.
Just measure equal parts of
powder paint and equal parts of water, mix, and apply.
I
just painted a vanity in our
powder room with French Linen and absolutely love it.
P.S. I make my own chalk
paint using plaster of Paris
powder; I
just mix it into the
paint a spoonful at a time until it starts looking grainy.
I
just can't get this PR the way I want it and I thought using this technique but using a more clear metallicy
paint (like centsational girl http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2010/07/painted-trellis-wall/) for the lines would give my
powder room the glam that I'm going for.
Just add water to the
powder, then stir the
paint into the mix.
I have not used a DIY version to
paint fabric, but I am sure it would work
just as well as Annie Sloan, especially if you use the Calcium Carbonate
Powder recipe.
I

Powder seems to mix OK with most
paints.
If it is
just way too gritty — I would use a different
paint or use Calcium Carbonate
Powder to make your mix.
I used the left over
paint from our
powder room that's
just down the hallway.
