Your sweet tooth isn't necessarily a bad thing... you've
just been taught by our culture that you need refined,
processed junk food in order to make your sweet cravings go away.
But
just keep in mind that vegan cheese is pretty much
junk food — most are made from
processed oils, artificial flavourings and vegetable glycerin.
To many consumers, «
processed food» is
just another term for «
junk food.»
I think
food bloggers tend to eat healthy
just because they have such a high respect for
food and enjoy eating whole
foods not

And there are also many, many things we could be doing to encourage children's acceptance of healthier school meals: imposing meaningful restrictions on children's
junk food advertising; requiring
food education in schools — not
just nutrition education, but offering kids a real understanding of our

food; teaching all children basic cooking skills; getting more gardens into schools; encouraging restaurants to ditch the standard breaded - and - fried children's menu; imposing taxes on soda (and even
junk food); improving
food access; and so much more.
Now I know the
food industry isn't going to
just slink away from the lucrative school snack market, but given the rigorous standard that will go into effect in 2016, it seems to me that any
processed foods still sold in schools after that date should no longer fall into the empty - calorie, «better - for - you»
junk food category.
I've long felt like the lone voice out there promoting minimally
processed food as a way to address poor eating habits: I think that when we insist on fresh, we are turning our back on all kinds of good
foods, and people who can't afford fresh
foods then
just throw in the towel and go for
junk.

If you notice, almost everything is
processed, canned, boxed, or
just plain
junk food.
In that very moment, I realized I wasn't really changing my eating habits, I was
just sacrificing real
food to eat
processed junk, which offered temporary pleasure but left me hungry at night.
