I'm concerned about Tony's theology, whose philosophical foundations I criticized pretty consistently while I was involved in EC in 2004 - 7 before bowing out because Tony seemed more into pushing with some arrogance a pomo philosophy he never really
studied in school than he was into fostering dialogue (I went back to

studying) the word of God in the Bible, I have found no questions that can not be answered.
You need to
study the bible and not
just read it.

just study it,
read it, pray over it, and ask God to guide you by the Holy Spirit.

I have
read and
studied just enough of the other viewpoints to know that what I was taught in Bible College and Seminary might not be the best understanding.
It's rather coincidental though that I
just read a possible explanation earlier this morning from a book that I'm going to be doing a
study with on my blog.
Just as watching any movie or
reading any book changes a person, so also,
studying and
reading about Jesus will change you.
I saw how much spiritual benefit I received from
reading and
studying Scripture and theology, and I assumed that everyone else would get
just as much benefit from these practices as I had.
If our
reading,
studying, and teaching of Scripture is not leading us to look, act, and love more like Jesus, then we are not properly understanding or
reading the Scriptures and should probably
just put them away for a while until we learn to love others more like Jesus.
I firmly believe in
studying and
reading Scripture in community... not
just with a community of Christians, but also with Buddhists, Atheists, Muslims, and whoever wants to join.
It
just so happens that I'm a personality type who never stops learning, so I learned by

studying on my own.

studying... but she always knows more theology than I do, and always asks penetrating questions which shoot holes through all my acadamagician ideas (Yes, I

studying theology during the peak of the civil rights era and never once

just read scripture
study it.
Frankly, that's why there is so much misinterpretation and misinformation out there about Christianity, bc nobody wants to
study the Bible, they
just want to
read and think they are experts.
I'll bet you
just believe what your preacher tells you rather than
reading books and recorded
studies about evolutionary biology.
By the time I was
reading his volume that dealt with this very subject — «Churches that Abuse» (1993), my own
studies and experiences had taught me
just how right these concerns were and
just how often we deny the Apostolic mandate and deny and forbid those things that the New Testament clearly defines as ours in the liberty of Gods goodness and grace.
If there are early Christian apologists who were making that argument, they could have come up with something quite better — like
just studying the scriptures (not
just reading —
studying) and realize they didn't have to rely on nonprovable arguments.
