If the material were thicker I would
just sew the dress shorter but it seems like it would easily tear and fray.
In fact,
I just sewed a dress without one (a wearable muslin for my Sew for Victory project) and honestly was a little meh about it.

dress is such a satisfying
sewing project - really quick and fun (and uses
just one yard!)
Into this small space I've squeezed three tables, including my drawing board, several
sewing machines, my laptop, a couple of
dress forms, a chest of drawers

dress that I made from Japanese printed silk my mother had bought and kept for sixty years (it's
just a giant square with a hole fro my neck and two for my arms, and has the best drape EVER owing to its being silk)
I see that

just released another shirt
dress and I will be adding it to my ever growing queue!
