I keep making it, in part because unlike other green salads that go south shortly after being dressed,
this kale salad likes to party.
While I have several
kale salads I like, my go - to kale action is to saute it with oil and balsamic vinegar.
We bet you haven't had a Caesar
kale salad like this before.
And I've had them for dinner as a companion to tomato - based stews and big
kale salads like the one pictured above.
Not exact matches
Fresh juices (I'm a convert), Brussel sprouts and rapini are upstaging
kale (baby or otherwise), cooked grain
salads, Ramen (it's a second go - round), globally - inspired sandwiches (
like Cuban pressed sandwiches) brunch as well as grilled cheese sandwiches, and customized food (even McDonald's is trying to be accommodating), drip coffee (move over Latte, Espresso and Café au Lait) along with fancy copper drip coffee filter holders (check out Hario Coffee or Kalita).
I love to eat it with cabbage,
kale, broccoli, brussels sprout or carrot
salads, it's also wonderful with quinoa, wheat berries, beans and rice, but it is just perfect with any greens you
like, too.
You can pan-fry firm tofu,
like I have done here for my
kale salad (pictured below).
I
like to use the fresh dill as an add - on to my
salads as well as a mix - in for my
kale chips.
I typically serve this along with a green vegetable (roasted or sautéed green beans, broccoli or
kale / chard) or a big green
salad topped with hearty bits
like avocado, nuts / seeds and maybe even some diced apple or pear.
Essentially, we've been alternating between dinner
salads (
like the
kale Cobb Caesar and the popular paella
salad), and what I affectionately refer to as a Parisian picnic, which is nothing more than a large round serving board filled with an assortment of cold odds and ends from the fridge, some bread, pita, and / or crackers, and whatever seasonal fruits and veggies and are hanging out on the counter.
Lentils are a go - to for me... I love simple curried lentil soup (veg broth, diced onion, mushroom, curry powder, cumin, garlic, and lentils + any add - ins you
like... squash or potatoes help add bulk to it, I
like adding spinach or
kale, tomatoes add a nice acidity...) or an even simpler cold lentil
salad made with red onion, diced tomatoes, lentils, chickpeas, and lemon juice / vinegar / EVOO.
And they can be just as vibrant and colorful as summer —
like this
salad of roasted butternut squash, purple
kale, pomegranate seeds, and spiced walnuts.
They serve giant
salads made with
kale, cabbage and other healthy ingredients... I made this one day when we ate there, the
salad in the brightly colored bowl made Charlotte feel
like she was eating right off the menu.
I only had bagged
kale, so the slaw was more
like a
salad... and had to use white wine vinegar instead of red, so next time I'll «fix» those two items and see if they still
like it!
Sidenote: These are probably a «healthier» treat than other Christmas treats, so it's basically
like dropping a
kale salad.
This
salad is stocked with superfoods
like almonds quinoa,
kale, blueberries and even chia seeds.
I
like to pair it with a large
kale salad and a warm slice of toast.
I
like the crunch and structure of
kale in
salads but I know it can be a bit much.
Last night was a SK cook - a-thon:
kale and wild rice gratin, date and almond breakfast bars (double batch so I feel
like a superstar having backups in the freezer), and a variation of your shaved zucchini
salad (I used carrots instead, for a sweeter crunch paired with the gratin).
Big, giant biscuits that you can get a la carte or with a big selection of hearty fillings
like the Brisket Biscuit (a biscuit with brisket, pickled onion, smoked chèvre, poached egg, and buffalo hollandaise) or the Asheville Benedict (an open faced biscuit topped with charred scallion cream cheese, fresh tomatoes, 2 poached eggs, hollandaise, roasted red peppers, and a tossed
kale salad).
It's a delicious and the perfect ingredient for any detox
salad as it adds SO much flavour — but it's not
like this
salad, with pomegranate seeds, squash,
kale and ore, lacks any of that.
I still
like the crunch of romaine every so often, but I have recently been super crushing on
kale salads.
This new line features eight
salads that are jam - packed with nutrient - dense goodies
like chia seeds, quinoa, wheat berries, matcha, cacao nibs,
kale, goji berries, cashews, and lentils.
We normally think of greens,
like kale, as cooking vegetables, but they also make excellent fresh

like to use
kale in this traditional - style
salad for some extra heartiness, flavor, and nutrition — wimpy lettuce in a big
salad is the worst.
I picked up some watermelon radishes at Whole Foods this week and for some reason it sounded
like it would be a magical topping to a massaged
kale burger
salad.
As I'm used to a diet heavy in Greek yogurt, avocado toast, and
kale, my bod is not responding well to this new normal, and I've been craving

Of course in the US it's very common to find
Kale salads, but the last 2 — 3 years I have discovered
kale salads and juices in many other countries in Europe,
like the Netherlands, Spain and also in South Africa.

salad with a mix of greens, preferably including at least one cruciferous vegetable

like one for Cuban - style pork, or swap out lemon juice and massage into a
kale and pomegranate
salad.

Salad with Fennel for those of you who don't
like kale salads, because I've heard there are quite a few of you out there and you shouldn't have to suffer through.
Instead, create your dressing first in a large bowl, then pile the greens and other
salad ingredients into that same bowl and start tossing (or massaging, if you're using hearty greens
like kale).
