It doesn't have to be purple kale, any kind of
kale will work.
I used Lacinto kale, a.k.a. Dinosaur Kale but, any flat kind
kale will work.

kale works beautifully, tender when steamed but with a nice bite.

will work, and use whatever greens float your boat (spinach, dinosaur
kale, chard, etc.).
7 - 10 leaves of
kale (preferably lacinato, but curly
will work) handful of some kind of nut (I've been using almonds) 1 carrot 1/2 avocado 1 t ginger, minced 1 clove garlic, minced 1 T miso paste 2 t tahini 2 T lemon juice 2 T olive oil soy sauce to taste
Working in batches, grill
kale, turning often, until nicely charred and slightly
wilted, about 2 minutes per batch.

Romaine lettuce
will work okay, but it
will definitely have a different flavor than
kale.
