According to Act 4 Juvenile Justice, for more than 35 years the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) has provided critical federal
funding to states to comply with a set
of core requirements designed to protect children from the dangers
of adult jails and lockups;
keep young people safe;
keep children charged with status offenses out
of locked
custody; and address the disparate treatment
of youth
of color in the justice system.
sec. 343.23: «The expenses
of the investigation authorized by section 343.22, including the fee
of the doctor
of veterinary medicine, the expenses
of keeping or disposing
of any animal taken into
custody pursuant to an invsstigation, and all other expenses reasonably incident to the investigation shall be paid by the county treasurer from the general
fund of the county.
