Coquelin's defending is excellent.In fact i've watched many DM's Arsenal have been linked and he's
better than some
of them defensive wise.How many top DM's will
keep the likes
of Silva, Coutinho and Modric (12/13) quiet throughout a match?It takes top defending to do that.His biggest problem is that he's not adventurous and doesn't
hold the
ball with authority.It's just that I feel he's not given the appreciation he deserves.He's a
good squad player to have and when on form can do
well against top teams.

Besides as much as he is a
good player he is prone to sulks, prone to
keeping hold of the
ball too long when not required and prone to not making the easy pass but instead going on a run into a dead end.
We need 2 top CM but I wouldn't say they need to be def CM, we need someone who can
hold onto the
ball and wriggle out
of a tight spot while
keeping the
ball while being able to disposes players as
well.
ozil will have giroud infront
of him, sanchez and ox to bomb down his flanks and a security net in santi behind him who can both spot and execute a defense splitting pass, wriggle his way through a mess or simply
hold the
ball well and
keep play flowing through other channels.
A fairly similar player — very
good at dribbling and
keeping hold of the
ball, a
good short and long range passer also and can set attacks going.
He slotted in and
held the
ball for us very
well and his physical ability to turn away from the opponent and feed the
ball forward
kept us in control
of the game.
Keeping hold of the
ball is always the
best defensive tactic in my opinion and our
ball retention dropped alarmingly after Carroll's withdrawal.
