Unfortunately,
keeping added sugar intake to recommended levels is difficult since food manufacturers like to put it in everything (especially in its ultra cheap form — high fructose corn syrup).
A 2014 study revealed that people who consumed 17 percent to 21 percent of their daily calories from the sweet stuff had a 38 percent higher risk of dying from heart disease compared with those who
kept their added sugar intake to 8 percent of their daily calories.
Keep added sugar intake to a minimum and limit to 1 - 2 sources of natural sugar per day (fruit, natural sweeteners, dairy sugar, etc..)
Your diet should have little to no processed and packaged foods, and you should
keep your added sugar intake — the kind that is added to foods, not the kind that occurs naturally, such as in fruit — to fewer than 15 to 20 grams per day.
