There are so many reasons why you should
keep raw nuts on hand.

I can't tell you how much the

A typical full day of eating for me looks like: Breakfast: Spinach, Mushroom, Onion and Tomato Frittata... sometimes with bacon or homemade sausage Iced Coffee with coconut milk Lunch (this is usually my largest meal of the day): 4 - 5 ounces of protein (turkey burger, pulled pork, chicken thighs, ground buffalo), roasted veggies and sometimes a sweet potato or butternut squash Snack: apple with almond butter or a handful of macadamia
nuts Dinner: A large salad with all kinds of
raw veggies (cucumber, celery, carrots, cauliflower), avocado or olives, usually a lighter protein like grilled chicken breast, salmon or shrimp This would represent a full menu... I would say I hit this about 4 - 5 days a week, other days I may omit the snack or
keep the snack and omit a meal, if i do that though I would add a bit of protein with it.

An ideal combination is around 10 sultanas with four or five
raw nuts; the protein will help
keep you full.
Raw nuts such as almonds and cashews are great to
keep on hand for a variety of uses.
If you really do need energy, pick a snack that will
keep you full for longer, like an apple with
nut butter, or
raw veggies and hummus.
I
keep plenty of healthy snacks on hand like hummus and
nut and seed crackers, apples and
raw almond butter, kombucha, or an elixir with coconut butter and adaptogens like chaga or maca.
Simply eat 1 - 2 large handfuls of a
raw nut or seed (the best are almonds, macadamia
nuts, walnuts or pumpkin seeds — and
keep them in the freezer so they don't go rancid) along with a piece of fresh
raw fruit, such as a pomegranate, grapefruit or apple.
Keep in mind though that some
nuts are mostly monounsaturated, (for example, macadamias), so the issue of roasted vs
raw nuts is less of an issue for highly monounsaturated
nuts.
Some of the pantry staples that I always try to
keep on hand are: oats, brown rice and / or quinoa, whole grain pasta, whole grain crackers, canned diced tomatoes, canned beans, chicken or vegetable broth, sustainably caught canned tuna,
raw nuts and seeds,
nut butter, healthier snack bars, and good quality dark chocolate.
1 cup peanut butter (make it
nut - free with sunflower butter) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (gluten - free variety) 1 Tablespoon honey (vary the sweetness as you'd like, some people may prefer 2 Tablespoons but I like to
keep the sugar low) 3 Tablespoons
raw coconut oil, melted (but not hot)
Grapefruit +
raw nuts or seeds (like almond, walnuts, or sunflower seeds): Grapefruit is great: citrus naturally ignites our senses and «wakes us up» by
keeping our moods up, which is important if you are someone who runs around.
Why 2 veggie burgers, a giant
raw vegetable salad, and a bowl of
nuts, couldn't
keep me full longer than 2 hours.
But
keeping raw packets of an organic
nut butter in the fridge is definitely something I can do!
Another Green Tea, some
nuts, and a piece of fruit or
raw vegetables are a great way to
keep you satisfied and burning fat until dinner.
While extremely nutritious, it is best to
keep the amount of soaked
raw nuts consumed each day to a closed handful at most.
The dates add a touch of sweetness and loads of fiber and other vitamins and minerals, and the
raw nuts and seeds all add healthy fats that will
keep you full and satisfied for hours.
Raw or cooked, tree
nuts will likely
keep for 2 - 3 months in your freezer, refrigerator or in a cool, dark, dry place.
Why do I, after a good fulfilling meal, if I stay in the kitchen environs
keep nibbling on almonds, walnuts,
raw honey, bananas, papaya, gorgonzola cheese, Brazilian
nuts, pumpkin seeds, pecans, and any other healthy food you find in my kitchen?
Some items I like to
keep stocked at home (I choose organic and local whenever possible): unsweetened, full - fat coconut products (oil, butter, milk, cream); MCT oil; cold - pressed olive oil; grass - fed beef and jerky; pastured poultry and eggs; wild - caught seafood; seaweed like nori (great for «burritos»); grass - fed, full - fat, cultured dairy like butter oil, ghee, and heavy whipping cream;
raw milk and cheese; fermented cod liver oil;
raw nuts and seeds (especially macadamia
nuts) and
nut butters; olives; fermented foods like sauerkraut and kimchi; non-starchy vegetables and leafy greens; avocados; low - glycemic berries; lemons and limes; whey protein powder; stevia; apple cider vinegar; sea salt; garlic; onions; mustard; fresh and dried herbs spices (especially turmeric, cinnamon, and fresh ginger root); salsa; grass - fed beef and pastured chicken stock and vegetable stock.
