I'm a big fan of letting
kids help in the kitchen.
I recently stumbled across some comments on an older blog post about letting
kids help in the kitchen where commenters insisted that they would never let their kids use knives and limit them to only butter knives or safe cutting utensils until at least age 12.

My wife is always trying to get me more involved
in cooking (and general
help in the
kitchen) but I always seem to have something else going on — work,
kids, excuses, etc..
This is way too easy, and if you've got eager hands who love to
help out
in the
kitchen, this is the perfect task to pass on to the
kids.
It's so liberating
in fact that I let the
kids put homework aside and invite them to the
kitchen to
help.
I enjoy slowing down
in the
kitchen because I love to cook and can focus on the process more with an extra set of grownup hands to
help with the juggling of our 3
kids.
I've said this before, but can't emphasize enough how important it is to let your
kids help prepare healthy food
in the
kitchen!
