taking off with the state aid check, leaving the

school to go to, and MPS to try to deal with it), refusal to accept handicapped children, continued leeching off
public schools for lab courses, and — most significantly — absolutely no educational advantage whatsoever for the «choice» students compared to their
public school counterparts, which was the ostensible justification for this whole fiasco
in the first place.
«Milwaukee's
Public Schools need full funding so our
kids can get the quality education they deserve, not experiments
in taking control away from our locally elected
school board and handing it to an unaccountable political appointee.
This isn't to say that these officials don't care about these children, but that they are disinterested
in taking on the tough work needed to overhaul districts and

schools they deserve — which includes challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations for poor and minority

kids (now 29 years of age and very accomplished - ok I am his dad), was struggling
in the 9th grade and the
public high
school was not responsive to his needs, and my wife and I — because we are lucky enough to be able to do so —
took him out the
public schools and sent him to a local private
school.

It may be time to
take bus loads of
kids from New Haven, Hartford, Waterbury, Bridgeport and anyone else who is willing to play a part
in returning our
public schools to their rightful owners.
Here's what really happened for My
kids just
took PARCC
in MCPS (Montgomery COunty Maryland
Public Schools).
That's just slightly higher than the 22 percent Algebra 1 course -
taking rate for middle -
schoolers in nearby D.C.
Public Schools and lower than the 43 percent rate for
kids in Alexandria's district, both of which serve mostly poor and minority populations.
Go Jen — of course — and I plan to operate on my neighbor tomorrow — it's only a little heart problem — should be able to do it — and if I fail well so what — then I can run a bank and make millions of dollars even if I fail — but teachers (gods chosen selfless few) care for all of our
kids and are the real hero's
in this world — I am so thankful that my two daughters attend
public schools and have been nurtured by those who have chosen a profession of giving and not one of

It's very difficult if educators don't believe
in the idea that we educate all
kids, that
public schools take all comers,
kids with disabilities, and
kids from poor backgrounds, and that our goal is to educate a whole child.
