Green Smoothie bowls are a regular visitor to my breakfast
table (who am I
kidding, there is no
table in this equation, I eat breakfast standing up
in the kitchen as I prep for shoots, or sitting at my desk while editing photos... but that's another story altogether).
To be clear, I don't care if the end product is
in fact bread - like; I just want something that: — will come out of the silicone mold okay (and look nice enough on the
table under a challah cover)-- the
kids will like — butter can be spread on — will have the consistency and hold together enough such that eating with one's hands would be appropriate

I very fondly remember going down to the kitchen as a little
kid to see her working on her big flour - coated work
table, scooping heaps of flour out of large plastic containers, and can almost still taste the gluten
in the air.
With a regular dinner you're rushing to get food done and on the
table, maybe fumbling to try and find the recipe you need, all the while crazy
kids are running through your kitchen and you're starving and
in a bad mood.
Now that the
kids are back
in school, I find it's hard to rush dinner on the
table after we get home from after - school activities.

I thought we could set up a
kids table, and it started off okay, but within minutes, we realized that we really should have strapped them down
in the high chairs.
I know from experience that once school is back
in session and the
kids» start up again that's about how long I have to get dinner on the
table on a school night.
I've never been one for lentils - probably because they simply never showed up on my dinner
table as a
kid - but I have been more and more interested
in experimenting with them as of late.

in my waffle maker (actually a waffle STICK maker — you know so my
kids can break them apart and dunk them
in massive quantities of syrup that they then drip across the

kid sets the
table and helps
in the kitchen, while the other is
in charge of the post-meal cleanup and floor sweeping.

All examples where we've been at the

kid to finish first and then get down before us to pick the nicest toy
