It's
kind of like a recent
apps list that shows everything from recently
read titles to extra features like the web browser and sketch pad.
Reading on the device with the default
apps is
kind of nice but i noticed when using Zinio that the magazines looked
kind of scanned.

kind of editing while leaving open the possibility
of adding notes and highlighting (without changing the original file).
Amazon's
reading devices and
apps track all

While the
app offers some curated
reading lists, it does not offer any
kind of custom smart or manual «playlist» feature.
In recent years I have noticed that the trend is away from easy access to such high quality content (paywalls, closures, metered
reading, paid
apps etc) it doesn't seem to have made a huge impact because rivals keep popping up in the free space (many for every one site that goes behind a wall

kind) but the average quality seems just a little lower (in some specific cases much lower) I do wonder if there won't at some point be a better market for paid non-fiction ebooks (or paid non-fiction content generally) as more
of the best stuff resides behind walls

Often I just give up looking out
of frustration, which is
kind of a bummer because
reading on my iPad is great and I like using all the different eReader
apps, which all have strengths and weaknesses.

Call me a curmudgeon, but I'm a firm believer in strictly limiting the amount and
kind of content that my kids are exposed to, whether it's a library book, a video, music, an
app, or game, and no amount
of hearing «Well, I watched (or played with,
read, or owned) XYZ when I was a kid, and I turned out just fine.»
