Reading the thread on this article and I noticed a lot
of people naming
strikers we could have gotten
in past transfer windows that have gone to other club and failed, Balotelli, Falcao, Martinez, Boney etc are recurring names
in all the comments, and am sat here thinking because they failed
in thee clubs does not necessarily mean they would have failed if we had pulled out our fingers and hot them back then, Balotelli aside I strongly believe all
of these players could have made a difference playing infront
of our midfield and given the
kind of attention and care Wenger gives Giroud and Walcott, adapting our play to suit them and giving them chances after chances even when its blatantly obvious they are average players so please lets not keep using that as an excuse for Wenger's ultra careful attitude
in the transfer market, they could have failed with us, or they could have been massive for us, all speculations.
Cap refs aside this
kind of result proves he SHOULD have brought
in a
striker and a DM.

kind of performance
in the opening half against the Blues will have them rocked, and we simply can not afford to go into the match using our usual system, which includes Olivier Giroud playing as the sole
striker.
point is, if he is the feature
striker, then that will not win a league, when this team won the league, thierry henri scored 30 goals
in the prem alone, and averaged 26 per year over 5 straight years, we need that
kind of production,
Arsene Wenger can must get Ben Yedder as long as he's clinical and can beat his man.I'd take him over Giroud any day and I think if Giroud is put
in that Toulouse squad he won't score more goals than Ben Yedder and denying this fact would mean you choose to be blinded. We had better get him quickly.I've said it here time and time again the reason why Arsenal are not winning things with Giroud is because he's not clinical. If you guys were to ever watch his misses
in every season by season since he came here you would be shocked at the
kind of striker we have. But as usual he's always forgiven and people continually rate him basing it on statistics and forget he's playing for Arsenal with the likes
of.......
, you have never scored more than 16goals
in a season for us, you've divided the fanbase, we struggle with goals with you around etc... i don't think that a top
striker has those
kind of qualities and i sense if a top
striker comes through, then you might be relegated to capital one league only since i favor welbeck for FA... good luck big guy
However, Wenger has admitted that he is still worried about his new
striker facing the
kind of burn out that we often see from players like Mesut Ozil who are new to the Premier League and the fact that there is no winter break

I think the major reason Wenger did not sign a strong DM is because
of Diaby, Wenger may think it s his last chance to prove what he is capable
of and he is when fit so I expect to see a breaktrough or fail from Diaby. You have to admire the loyalty
of Wenger on those
kind of point, the team is still short
of defender but I do think that a Diaby fit can be a good DM as he is tall, strong and technical. There is 3 new
striker, Campbell and Sanchez who can play the wings and a tall, strong Wellbeck who can bully the defenders
in the box, all three have pace so it s an upgrade on Giroud and Sanogo.

kind of worked out for us but we should never have bought him when he has never scored more than 9 goals a season

even when he suffered a serious knee injury, instead
of accepting the fact that he would never stick his legs into the spaces that were crucial for someone with straight ahead speed to succeed, the club actually contemplated giving him a chance to play up top where his lack
of physicality, size and holding up play talents would been on display for all to see... these are not the actions
of a club that really cares about winning at the highest levels, but they are the actions
of a club that wasn't interested
in spending the necessary resources to purchases a world - class
striker, which is usually the most expensive position on the pitch... instead we adopted the horrible phrase «like a new signing» and proceeded to allow this ridiculous experiment to carry on, which ultimately caused some discomfort on the training pitch and inside the locker room as players battled for a position that shouldn't have been theirs for the taking
in the first place... don't get me wrong, I believe that Walcott is a talented player, who can help a team reach their goals, if their goals are relatively modest... just look at the teams who supposedly expressed interest
in his services and they weren't the
kind of clubs who aspire to win at the highest levels... as for the reasons why he hasn't been bitching and moaning about moving on just look at the wage benefits he receives from our club and his obvious desire to enjoy the societal advantages that come with playing
in North London for a club with worldwide appeal... so instead
of continuing to try to fix a coat with a broken zipper simply move on and buy a new and better coat

strikers in the world on his day, and would give Arsenal the

kind of punishment.
Finally, if Wenger really cares that Arsenal go to the next level with Lacazette
in the
striker's role he will need to surround him with the proper
kinds of players, those who compliment his skills and give him a legitimate chance to lead the line... if they can spread the opposing teams back line with Sanchez on the left and someone
of consequence on the right (must purchase this individual), this would likely create some space for Ozil
in the middle
of the pitch... having 3 players who can not only create their own opportunities, but provide assists and make well - timed runs, could bring some much - needed directness back into our ticky - tack approach
of late... unfortunately instead
of making the tough decisions and spending the supporters money
in the right places, we instead have wasted so much time bashing our heads against the same brick wall over and over again and expecting different results..

Perhaps I should have responded
in kind with 500 words
of conjecture and speculation about «what a
striker should do»
You'd really have to ask yourself if he'd still be here if he wasn't French.Wenger has every right to sell Giroud. If we were very ambitious we would've sold him long ago. We're treating him as if he's a crucial player. The lesson will only be learnt when Lacazette goes out with a long term injury. We will then see how good the back ups are.To me he's not a super sub as he's the
kind of striker who requires service.Being a super sub is not enough because remember he's the next
in line if anything happens to Lacazette.Giroud was Arsenal's main
striker for a reason.Last season 99 %
of the matches he scored coming
of the bench were matches he should have started to give us that aerial presence but Wenger shockingly started Sanchez. It's a shame fans will blame him next season again for his short comings. The guy is just not good. It's not good enough to be strong
in aerial battles alone and weak
in almost every other aspect.I expect Arsenal and Arsene to do better. He must be sold.
Time for some brutal honesty... this team, as it stands, is
in no better position to compete next season than they were 12 months ago, minus the fact that some fans have been easily snowed by the acquisition
of Lacazette, the free transfer LB and the release
of Sanogo... if you look at the facts carefully you will see a team that still has far more questions than answers... to better show what I mean by this statement I will briefly discuss the current state
of affairs on a position - by - position basis...
in goal we have 4 potential candidates, but
in reality we have only 1 option with any real future and somehow he's the only one we have actively tried to get rid
of for years because he and his father were a little too involved on social media and he got caught smoking (funny how people still defend Wiltshire under the same and far worse circumstances)... you would think we would want to keep any goaltender that Juventus had interest
in, as they seem to have a pretty good history when it comes to that position... as far as the defenders on our current roster there are only a few individuals whom have the skill and / or youth worthy
of our time and / or investment, as such we should get rid
of anyone who doesn't meet those simple requirements, which means we should get rid
of DeBouchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Mertz and loan out Chambers to see if last seasons foray with Middlesborough was an anomaly or a prediction
of things to come... some fans have lamented wildly about the return
of Mertz to the starting lineup due to his FA Cup performance but these sort
of pie
in the sky meanderings are indicative
of what's wrong with this club and it's wishy - washy fan - base...
in addition to these moves the club should aggressively pursue the acquisition
of dominant and mobile CB to stabilize an all too fragile defensive group that has self - destructed on numerous occasions over the past 5 seasons... moving forward and building on our need to re-establish our once dominant presence throughout the middle
of the park we need to target a CDM then do whatever it takes to get that player into the fold without any
of the usual nickel and diming we have become famous for (this
kind of ruthless haggling has cost us numerous special players and certainly can't help make the player
in question feel good about the way their future potential employer feels about them)...
in order for us to become dominant again we need to be strong up the middle again from Goalkeeper to CB to DM to ACM to
striker, like we did
in our most glorious years before and during Wenger's reign... with this
in mind, if we want Ozil to be that dominant attacking midfielder we can't keep leaving him exposed to constant ridicule about his lack
of defensive prowess and provide him with the proper players
in the final third... he was never a good defensive player
in Real or with the German National squad and they certainly didn't suffer as a result
of his presence on the pitch... as for the rest
of the midfield the blame falls squarely
in the hands
of Wenger and Gazidis, the fact that Ramsey, Ox, Sanchez and even Ozil were allowed to regularly start when none
of the aforementioned had more than a year left under contract is criminal for a club
of this size and financial might... the fact that we could find money for Walcott and Xhaka, who weren't even guaranteed starters, means that our whole business model needs a complete overhaul... for me it's time to get rid
of some serious deadweight, even if it means selling them below what you believe their market value is just to simply right this ship and change the stagnant culture that currently exists... this means saying goodbye to Wiltshire, Elneny, Carzola, Walcott and Ramsey... everyone, minus Elneny, have spent just as much time on the training table as on the field
of play, which would be manageable if they weren't so inconsistent from a performance standpoint (excluding Carzola, who is like the recent version
of Rosicky — too bad, both will be deeply missed)...
in their places we need to bring
in some proven performers with no history
of injuries... up front, although I do like the possibilities that a player like Lacazette presents, the fact that we had to wait so many years to acquire some true quality at the
striker position falls once again squarely at the feet
of Wenger... this issue highlights the ultimate scam being perpetrated by this club since the arrival
of Kroenke: pretend your a small market club when it comes to making purchases but milk your fans like a big market club when it comes to ticket prices and merchandising... I believe the reason why Wenger hasn't pursued someone
of Henry's quality, minus a fairly inexpensive RVP, was that he knew that they would demand players
of a similar ilk to be brought on board and that wasn't possible when the business model was that
of a «selling» club... does it really make sense that we could only make a cheeky bid for Suarez, or that we couldn't get Higuain over the line when he was being offered up for half the price he eventually went to Juve for, or that we've only paid any interest to
strikers who were clearly not going to press their current teams to let them go to Arsenal like Benzema or Cavani... just part
of the facade that finally came crashing down when Sanchez finally called their bluff... the fact remains that no one wants to win more than Sanchez, including Wenger, and although I don't agree with everything that he has done off the field, I would much rather have Alexis front and center than a manager who has clearly bought into the Kroenke model
in large part due to the fact that his enormous ego suggests that only he could accomplish great things without breaking the bank... unfortunately that isn't possible anymore as the game has changed quite dramatically
in the last 15 years, which has left a largely complacent and complicit Wenger on the outside looking
in... so don't blame those players who demanded more and were left wanting... don't blame those fans who have tried desperately to raise awareness for several years when cracks began to appear... place the blame at the feet
of those who were well aware all along
of the potential pitfalls
of just such a plan but continued to follow it even when it was no longer a financial necessity, like it ever really was...
The Gunners got a taste
of life without the
kind of dynamic, slashing, attention - grabbing
striker Alexis and Aubameyang gives them on Tuesday against Swansea City, and that was a flat, awful performance with no attacking life that ended
in a humiliating 3 - 1 defeat.
let's be honest here... the article has some points... he is right
in d sense Giroud helps the teams... he is d
kind of striker that helps d midfield to score goals n shine....
I hope it went well for us because watching the legend (King Henry) goal on YouTube with the assist
of Dennis Berkamp, and Robert Pires really call for changes
in our striking position when compare with the
kind of strikers we have presently.
The
kind of striker we need is NEVER available unless he's being replaced by an even better
striker, none

strikers in hope they end up world class.
«I don't want to be harsh on him, I don't want to be harsh on any player, but I
kind of think Wenger brought him
in because he didn't get the top - level
striker that he wanted.
In other words, the
kind of striker that'll score against tight defences that we typically draw a blank against.
Hence we end up with 5 players who are all
kind of in a laterally aligned set up looking for a forward pass to play but finding no pacy winger / wing forward to play a ball for them to run on to and a
striker isolated with 2 CD's on him.

Yes, Juventus tied the game midway through the first half thanks to Fernando Llorente scoring a classic Fernando Llorente
kind of goal, but when you have
strikers making 70 - yard runs and your team playing extremely well at easily one

in.
The Uruguayan
striker single handedly led Liverpool from the front this season, scoring 31 goals
in the Premier League as the Reds came very close to securing their first league title
in 24 years but according to Hodgson, he will find it difficult to display the same
kind of venom for Uruguay.
They don't have a
striker in any
kind of form though.
I think we need spain players with qualities, like Carzola for example... A player
of Carzola's qualities can easily catch up with our game not like Olivier Giroud that is taking a lot
of time to adapt to the premier league game, so if i should select the
kind of players we should be having i'll go for 2
strikers which are Roberto Soldado
of Valencia and Falcao who is out
of our limit cos there're a lot
of clubs on him
in which we know Arsene wenger is not the type
of Man that compete when it comes to buying quality players so what i suggest is that Mr wenger should go to Spain and pack as much as he can pack into the squad and let them all play Spain type
of football similar to barcelona's style
of play which everyone knows...
Upon returning to Liverpool
in October, though, a different
kind of shine was required from the promising
striker.
You make good points Ttg, if all three lost their pace who I will pick will depend on where I want them to play
in my team, they will probably all be useless as wingers so I would pick Theo to play as a second
striker in a 442 because Theo consistently makes the
kind of short runs Townsend and, to an extent, Lennon can only dream
of but if I must use them as Wingers then I'd pick Lennon as he is more two - footed and passes better than the other two.
