Amazon can undercut its competitors on price because it can factor in earnings
from future
ebook sales, it can sell a lot of
Kindles from Amazon.com and not have to share a cut with retailers, and it doesn't have to spend as much on marketing and promotions.

I have a
kindle fire, by mistake I removed an
ebook from my carousel.
Even if that figure above of 92 % of Amazon's sales being
kindle is in units, not dollars and even if bringing in the sales other than the genre sales (which Howey has shown dwarf all other Amazon sales), it's still very likely that at least 70 of their dollars in book sales are
from ebooks.

eBook from Amazon and many others I can read it, I can't lend it without permission and its highly restrictive when you can, I can't even let my family members read it unless their
kindle / iPad is on the same account.
If you're not familiar with DRM, it's file protection that locks books into one specific brand of
ebook reader, so for example, if you buy a book
from Amazon, you can only read them on
Kindles or devices that support the Kindle app.
Yet Amazon insists it makes almost no money and they refuse to show how much they are paying authors
from this huge increase in Amazon sales that can be tied to one thing,
KINDLE EBOOK SALES.
People who own
Kindles frequently don't buy
from anything but the
Kindle store, and in some cases assume that any book not on the
