I was already tired because I
had been up nursing during the night, Brian was off at work already, I simply wanted a quiet morning with my coffee because there was so much mundane work ahead on this day — cleaning bathrooms, doing laundry — but instead the
Rice Krispies multiplied to biblical proportions while they flew through the air and one small cereal bowl became a nuclear wasteland scattered into seemingly every corner of the
kitchen while milk streamed off the edge of the table puddling into the carnage and the bowl continued to spin.
It
would be funny if I hadn't actually believed the lie that I was too special, too holy, too smart, too good, too much altogether, to pick up
Rice Krispies in my own
kitchen.
Several of the company's original recipes
have their origins in Betty Lou's
kitchen, as she substituted honey and brown
rice syrup in several of the baked goods she made for her sons.

Kitchen was quite the prettiest
rice and chicken dish I
've seen for a while.
While browning the
rice, I
had my kids running all over the
kitchen and climbing up my legs, and the
rice burned.
I
have a certain shelf in a certain cupboard in my
kitchen that houses all manner of grains, legumes and
rices.
For me, my
kitchen isn't complete unless it
has onions, garlic and
rice.
This recipe (and a few other recent ones)
have inspired me to bring wild
rice back into the
kitchen.
So I immediately went to the
kitchen, where I always
have a pot of cooked brown
rice waiting.
The recipe is adapted from Mel of Mel's
Kitchen Cafe's recipe for Killer Crunch Brownies, and I
have to admit I changed them all around but the concept of a rich brownie layer and a
rice krispie treat style top is purely Mel's (well, purely the concept of a former coworker of Mel's husband Brian but you get the idea).
I
have no idea where it originated but I am almost 99 percent sure it came about because some Southern mom found herself in the
kitchen with both ground meat and
rice and didn't know what else to do other than toss them together!

So to celebrate her life and the love of the journey that life takes us all on, I decided to get in the
kitchen and whip up these Cuban Chicken & Black Bean
Rice Bowls (something I know she
would've loved) and pour a glass of Wente Vineyard's Riva Ranch Chardonnay as a toast to her and all the lives she touched.
, but it
has been a fantastic addition to our
kitchen — everything from the creamiest, silky squash soups to making my own brown
rice flour.
I was happy to
have that in my
kitchen, otherwise feel free to try this salad with any other
rice you
have at home.
These vegetarian «meatballs» make a perfect accompaniment to white / brown
rice making you regret all the times you
had take - out when you could
have created a great dish like this in your very own

In our

At the very least, I

kitchen this cauliflower fried
rice recipe along with a couple bottles of wine for survival purposes.
Well, I still haven't brought myself to get rid of the slow cooker and the
rice cooker — I keep telling myself «why get rid of them if I
have the
kitchen space?»
I always
have pasta, jasmine
rice, a few kinds of beans (garbanzo and pinto at least), onions, canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and vegetable bouillon in my
kitchen (plus olive oil, balsamic vinegar, flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and spices - start at the most versatile and see what you need).
