Now that my construction phase of home renovations are done (aka, laundry room moved and
kitchen lighting changed) I'm so anxious to get those walls painted!

change our days and schedules.
Floors, walks, walls, and the
kitchen area should be clean, food preparation areas should be far from toilets and diaper
changing stations, trash shouldn't be left sitting unemptied, and the building should be adequately heated,

Under my direction, my team
changed out the
kitchen slabs, interior
lighting, darkened the hardwood flooring,
changed the carpet, updated paint colors, fixtures, and interior doors, and fully staged the house.

changes that included drywalling a wall to create a formal dining area, opening up a wall between the

We have no Hobby Lobby in Canada; — RRB - It's one thing we are not updating in this house... cabinets and
lighting (although I'm tempted to
change the
kitchen flying saucer for one of those new white lanterns at Ikea).

I have lived a «colorful
kitchen» life for 20 + years, so we are
changing to a toned down,
light tan / gray wall with white cabinets and bead board.
As for the
kitchen, a simple and inexpensive start might be to paint / cover the island base in a
lighter color that compliments your decor and
change out the stools to some that are not black.
I'm still playing around with ideas for the zag part of this zig - zag
kitchen, but other plans include painting walls and cabinets,

lighting and finding ways to create even more space.

How to DIY it on a Budget: Replacing cabinet pulls and handles are budget friendly updates that refresh a
kitchen or bathroom — especially when you don't have to
change out the
light fixtures to match!
Although my 1986 bathroom is probably quite a bit older than yours, I have no desire to spend thousands of dollars doing an update that will shout out «new» but that won't be in keeping with the country / cottage effect I want and that I think can easily be achieved by working around my current pale yellow faux marble countertops by painting the oak cabinets (as I plan to do in the
kitchen) and the walls and
changing out sink and
lighting fixtures.
