But with both of my most recent
kitchen remodels, I was able to do the design work myself (since I left most of the appliances, electrical, plumbing and layout where it was) and then just worked with local contractors (a general contractor, a plumber, an electrician and painters and local or online suppliers) as needed to make the changes and updates I wanted
on a
reasonable budget — and in keeping with the quality and style of my house.
While my newer builder's
kitchen was still in decent shape and certainly not the worst
kitchen ever, I was excited about the challenge of creating a better layout for our needs and a bigger dose of charm and personality —
on a
reasonable person's
budget.
