Since humans

Famous for her monochrome or Op Art «paintings» made from
knitted wool and other distaff materials, Rosemarie Trockel often tackles themes of appropriation from a feminist stance — but her
work is far richer and stranger, as admirers of her 2012 New Museum show can attest.
There is something soothing about Albers's
works — maybe the texture, the
wool, and the evocations of childhood and hand -
knitted cardigans from elderly relatives — but also the structure and rhythm of the patterns, like Agnes Martin's serene minimalist canvases.
The multifaceted
work exists as a 1980s - era
wool sweater — hand -
knit by Lesperance — that is accompanied by a written provocation.
That snapshot of old ladies deep in their
knitting — tartly captioned «Permanent Installation» — is a presage of all the many
wool works to come later.
The company also
works with a project in Jordan where the women are taught to
knit and make the sweaters there out of the Faroese
wool.
I
work mostly with
wool, and enjoy creating and repairing
knitted objects.By writing this blog, running darning workshops and taking repair
work commissions I provide mending inspiration, skills and services to people and hopefully persuade them that shop - bought clothes deserve care and attention too, just like a precious hand -
knit.

work has appeared in Pom Pom Quarterly, Knitscene Magazine, Interweave
Knits, and Brooklyn Tweed's
Wool People series.
