What we call a
jumper in Britain is a cozy,
knitted pullover you'd put on when it's cold out, or
as it's known in America: a sweater.
As a child I loved sewing soft toys,
knitting a
jumper or trying to make my own earrings.
That's grossly overstated - by the time the sun set there were roving gangs of drunk men who were about
as interested in the rights and wrongs of Brown's fiscal stimulus
as I am in
knitting jumpers.
This means a chunky
knit jumper, preferably in a neutral shade such
as ivory, charcoal, stone or cream.
The Idle Man crew neck, thin
knit jumpers are also ideal for formal layering, but can be worn on their own for an easy casual or smart casual look
as well.
I think this stems from my Mum's love of
knitting,
as a kid I was able to pick a pattern and balls of wool each year (several times) and within a matter of weeks I had a new

as longer
knitted jumpers.
Even in the winter, paired with a
knitted jumper, tights and boots, this flared skirt can look
as casual or glamorous
as you make it, but always guarantees a girly, elegant style.
The red glitter
knit jumper from H&M was a present from my mom, and I really wish I'd have also got it in the silver version
as it is so warm and pretty.
For me these alternatives are things like switching jeans for cigarette trousers, swapping my standard
knitted jumper for a silk blouse and sophisticated neckerchief (which also doubles up
as a super cosy scarf too), mixing a chic skirt and thick tights into the mix every now and then (I love this one), throwing in a
jumper dress for good measure (almost
as good
as PJ's I assure you) and finally, mixing and matching my outerwear to keep it fresh.
I've personally found that a
jumper dress made from a slightly lighter
knit can be more flattering than a really chunky version,
as these can be a little overwhelming on my figure.
