We
know enough now about ingredients that we can make
decisions to
feed our children homemade, healthy, organic, all natural ingredient foods.
I mean, I
knew that formula was a perfectly suitable alternative to breastfeeding, but the list of BS things I told myself about formula
feeding was a long one and, well, that list left me feeing anything other than confident and happy in my
decision.
Women
know that breastfeeding is best (although some try to rationalize their
decision to formula
feed) but don't realize how hard it can be.
You've made the
decision to formula
feed, but don't
know where to start.
Hopefully when I've made a
decision to wean I'll be able to look back and
know that I did everything I could for me and my son and that 4.5 months plus of breastfeeding is fantastic when «every drop counts» (I love that slogan, it should so be adopted so that mums like us who have to formula
feed but did do some breastfeeding don't feel so bad...).
You
know, grown women with kids and enough brains to make their own
decisions regarding how to
feed their child.
Feeding time was
no longer frustrating as it developed into a personal parental
decision and less of a burdensome responsibility.
I want you to
know that it's OK if you made a clear
decision not to breastfeed and you enjoyed the conveniences and freedom of bottle
feeding.
I was forced with a
decision I thought I
no longer needed to contemplate: Do I formula
feed my baby and risk looking like a lazy, selfish, bad mother (even though I logically
know better)?
This often makes me doubt myself and the
decisions I've made about how to
feed and sleep with my baby... but then I look at my perfectly happy, pleasant kid, who loves to explore, and loves people, and laughs... and I
know he is fine.
We also
know that every
decision moms make about
feeding their little ones is made with great care and love.
If they are feeling happy and confident with their current
feeding method let them
know you are happy they feel positive about their
decision.

Where women get accurate information about breastfeeding and formula
feeding and are allowed to make the choice (if they have one) that's best for their families and then supported,
no matter what that
decision is.
